The Power of Therapeutic Exercise: Key Benefits for Your Health

  1. Pain Relief
Therapeutic exercises prescribed by physical therapists are a cornerstone of pain management for musculoskeletal conditions. These exercises work by strengthening supporting muscles, enhancing flexibility, and correcting movement patterns that may contribute to pain. This targeted approach addresses the root causes of discomfort, offering long-term relief and reducing the reliance on pain medications.
  2. Improved Mobility and Function
Physical therapy exercises are designed to restore range of motion, improve flexibility, and enhance functional movement. Whether you’re recovering from injury or managing chronic conditions, a tailored regimen of stretching, strengthening, and neuromuscular training helps you move with greater ease and confidence. This results in better balance, coordination, and overall performance in everyday tasks.
  3. Injury Prevention
Preventative care is a vital aspect of physical therapy. By addressing muscular imbalances, poor posture, and faulty movement mechanics, therapeutic exercises can significantly reduce the risk of injuries such as sprains, strains, and overuse syndromes. This proactive strategy supports long-term musculoskeletal health and builds resilience against future physical stressors.
  4. Supports Manual Therapy Techniques
Therapeutic exercises amplify the benefits of manual therapy by reinforcing proper alignment and muscular support around joints and the spine. Following hands-on treatment, exercises prescribed by a physical therapist help stabilize the treated areas, maintain progress, and minimize the risk of re-injury—ensuring longer-lasting results and better overall outcomes.

My family has met with a LOT of physical therapists, but Rick Pitman is in a league of his own. After meeting with various specialists, having unnecessary surgeries and injections, Rick was able to uncover and repair things that others have missed for years! His insane depth of knowledge combined with his passion to help makes him unique. He has both a broad and deep understanding of kinesiology and he is data driven, so we were able to measure our progress and identify the areas that need more attention. We took advantage of his love for technology/data and completed the Gait analyses for our family, where we gained invaluable insights into some pain drivers. We absolutely loved having hour long sessions that were tailored to our specific needs. Rick also has an easy to use portal, where he answers questions quickly. I can’t express enough how invaluable Rick has been to our family.

I have worked with Rick over the past 6 years after three surgeries. For my 1st hip surgery, he was working in an office at that time and saw me for 1-2 visits a week. My 2nd hip surgery turned out to be quite different as there were complications. My peroneal nerve was affected and the outcome was dropfoot. After the 2nd surgery and with a 3rd surgery (to hopefully fix the dropfoot), Rick was with me every step of the way. At this time he switched to a mobile PT function, which was unbelievably helpful for me at the time. There were many instances under his watchful eye where my sometimes not so careful hiking/workout practices on my own were leading to other injuries in my leg/ankle. Sometimes he noticed issues before I had the chance to fill him in. In these instances there were always helpful tips and exercises to employ to safeguard other areas of my leg/ankle where I may be overcompensating. I did not notice a difference in care in the office or mobile as he had an array of PT/ rehab methods to utilize to get you to your next level of function. He was also very helpful in any communications with the surgeons or other orthopedics/neurologists to explain my progress when an update was needed or when I needed an advocate. I highly recommend Rick for any Physical Training and Injury Rehab you may have.
